Woo Go Ravens!

Ok so it has been some time that I've actually posted on my blog. Quite a long time actually. But that happens when you are in school and you are so focused on grades, essays, projects and also trying to get involved with different things and attempt to enjoy a bit of the college life. I have made some interesting art recently but haven't made any posts about them. One of my favorite pieces so far have been a series I titled "Imagination: A series of Daydreams".

It's basically photos I've taken of everyday areas around campus but added what my imagination is thinking when I see these areas. I was encouraged to make bigger pieces which I really want to do in the future, but I also need some money to do that. I would like to make at least an 11x17" piece for one of these, mainly the dragon since it's my favorite one so far.

Coffee Skull

I know, I know it's been awhile but this Fall Semester has been rather hectic. Learning a new language, Art History, and my 2-D Foundations class take a toll on me sometimes.  I was insipred by someone's work they posted on reddit where they made a picture of an owl using the coffee they had leftover at the coffee shop they were at. So like anything I decided to take my stab at it. I had a Caramel Kiss Latte from Atomic Coffee and used a small bit to make this skull. I then applied ink and ink wash to certain areas. I'm still trying to incorporate ink wash and painting with ink into my art much like Tim Sale or Keron Grant's work. Overall not a bad piece for practice and it actually smells nice.  Oh apparently I created this in the future two days from when I created it. I just noticed the date that I put Oct 25 but just realized today is the 24th and I made this the day before. Maybe I have super powers?

Some recent doodles and work

Well my summer term ended more than a week ago and I'm back home for the time being.  I did do some small sketches and tried out watercolor/ india ink again.  I just used the back posting of small journal I had that I no longer used.  It was rather absorbent so when I applied the lighter washed out black ink it went through as it dried up.  The other piece is just a quick sketch I did of the Hulk and colored him in with sharpies.  I will be heading up to Tallahassee this weekend to start the fall semester, I hope I do good in my classes this term like I did in the summer.

Current Project

This is the current project I'm working on at the moment.  I am doing stop animation for my digital foundations class here at FSU.  I am to have 30 secs of film as my final. So far I got to up to around 14 secs.  Just need to add some more and maybe some music not sure yet. I didn't realize how long of a process this can be and I've working at this for the past two days now. I still have much more to do but for now this is my progress.

Attack of the Clones

Yeah, yean I know it's been awhile since I've posted anything, I recently started my Digital Foundations class in July for Summer C here at FSU.  It's not bad as it's an intro to digital publishing programs like Illustrator and Photoshop.  I've actually learned a few things in this class and this is my most recent work that I am proud of.  I present to you my workout montage with various poses of yours truly. I really like the way this turned out, I also put out cones so I could remember where I posed for various shots.  Using the quick masks I just simply erased or added in the parts that were needed. I have some other work that I will post up later I just need to tweak them up a bit. So enjoy this photo and tell me what you think !

Desk Cell Shade Attempt

Good Morning and Happy Monday Everybody!

Well I'm still on a roll of inspiration right now and woke up this morning, had my coffee and multigrain waffle and decided to work on something today. I took a photo of my desk and decided to mess around with an attempt to give it a cell shade effect. At first I was looking up a tutorial on how to give a photo a retro color look and from there I thought, hmm what if I add some more intensity to the outlines and try something else. I created a copy of the background and made an outline of the objects on the desk.  I'm sure it's not the best but I figured it turned out alright with doing it under an hour. Enjoy and tell me what you think. I will post the original photo and the finished result. I think I could have brought out the outlines a little more and noticed the blues turned green but I don't mind it. Now off to class!

Pixel Fan Art

Well I got another burst of inspiration after visiting a website called www.sketchypictures.com and the artist there had a tutorial on how to create pixel art with Adobe Illustrator. I figured I would take a stap at it and see what I can do.  I used the sketch of Jbabies from Artist Jeff Matsuda (The Batman, Jackie Chan Adventures, Wolverine) as a template and created three of the characters. This is the second time I have used this sketch and interpretted as a different form of art, I don't know why I guess I like the sketch. I would say I took a total of 2 1/2 hours working on this today. Enjoy and again if you are the original artist I hope you enjoy the work and I am in no way attempting to claim it as my own.  Make sure to check out both websites www.sketchypictures.com and www.jeffmatsuda.com
